Inspired to Achieve and Give Us a Chance meet with Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Rt Hon Damian Green MP.
In October 2016 Give us a Chance (GUAC) met with Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Rt Hon Damian Green MP. GUAC wanted to showcase the work of their members, and to highlight the important role that housing organisations play in helping their tenants into employment.
Inspired to Achieve (i2a) were selected to represent GUAC member Yarlington Housing Group and showcase their leading employment initiative which is delivered by i2a. i2a have supported over 487 Yarlington residents into employment over the last 3 years.
GUAC member Debra Scarratt, Head of i2a, and Chair of the i2a Board John Coutts told Mr Green how initiatives like i2A are so vital for housing associations and their tenants. They wanted to highlight that continued investment into additional services enhances the life prospects of residents, including those with physical or mental health issues.
The meeting provided two residents with the opportunity to share their experiences of the support they received from i2a’s Employment Coach’s and their journey to securing the successful outcome of sustained employment.
The visit with the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions is just one of the many ways in which Housing Associations are influencing the current government, and making the case for the critical role that housing organisations play in supporting people into employment.
